Editor’s Note: The Feb 10 Digest features a photograph of “Mother Midway,” the first A.M.E church established in Florida. It was organized on June 10, 1865, and the congregation has been in continuous existence since its founding; although the Klan burned the original structure. The church was co-founded by my grandfather’s parents. The example of Mother Midway should give us hope and resilience during these difficult times.
