Editor’s Note – During this week, we were witness to two consequential events. The remembrance of the character and conviction of Jimmy Carter, and the contrast with Donald Trump, and importantly, the warning by Joe Biden of the twin threats of autocracy and oligarchy. I have wondered about the effects of apartheid on the right wing politics of billionaires Musk, Theil and others who have immigrated from South Africa. A piece in the Financial Times explores this connection. The news that Rashida Jones stepped down at MSNBC is not a good sign for progressive news reporting. In spite of a hopeful cease fire in Gaza, the genocide that occurred there will hamper efforts at a lasting peace. White Christian Nationalist continue to play an outsized role in our politics. A new Federal report confirms that the Tulsa massacre was a coordinated military style attack. It appears that attacks on DEI at the collegiate level excludes football. I wonder why?
